Dear Members of the Korean Rhinologic Society
I am Dong-Young Kim from Seoul National University, who will serve as the 14th President of the Korean Rhinologic Society for two years from 2025.

A New Year has come, leaving behind unprecedented events that have never been experienced before. I would like to express my gratitude and respect to all the members who have supported our Society despite much hardship over the past year.

It is an infinite honor to be granted the opportunity to serve as the President of the Korean Rhinologic Society, which is known for its distinguished history and tradition. I shall do my best to carry forward with its traditions and glory, which have been achieved by the former presidents and all the members. To this end, I would like to plan and implement the following projects.

First, I set the motto of our Society as KRS(Knowledge, Respect, Synergy). I will devise ways to create more opportunities not only for academic exchanges but also for strengthening harmony and communication based on the respect among our members. As a first step, our regular golf meeting, which has been suspended for some time, will be resumed in March this year, and provide a place for the socializing and unity.

Second, further attempt would be made for the internationalization of our Society. Besides the Rhinologic Societies of the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Bulgaria, and ASEAN, which have signed the MOUs, I will try to sign new MOUs and maintain close cooperation and exchanges with more Rhinologic Societies such as Australia-New Zealand and the Middle East. In addition, I am preparing to hold an international congress hosted by our Society in 2026, and also link the pre-congress workshop to create an opportunity for foreign participants to learn about K-Rhinology.

Third, closer cooperation would be done with the Korean Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Korean Society of Sleep and Breathing to find ways to build up one another. Due to the disease severity and cost issues, the field of Rhinology is currently facing a major crisis. Interests in Facial Plastics and Sleep must be urgently expanded to create a future market and long-term development of Rhinology. In collaboration with the two, I will strive to increase interest in the field and attract those who are gifted by developing educational programs for fellows and residents who will lead the future of Rhinology.

Finally, the way a president is elected would be revised thus improved. There are many capable and willing members to devote themselves to the Society. I will come up with a new plan to maximize leadership opportunities to help take the Society to the next level.

The interest and participation of all members are essential for the continued growth of the Korean Rhinologic Society. We, the 18th executive directors, will strain all ears to the ideas and advice of all members, and strive to contribute to the advancement of the Society. We ask for your continued interest and advice. Thank you.
